Lets talk sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do at Natural Little Bee. From sourcing the best quality ingredients from highly ethical suppliers, gathering native wildflowers, working with small scale high ethics local native bees, to growing our own soapwort at a local community garden and supporting what they do. We really try to do it the best we can.

We avoid plastics at all costs. The bottle are all made from glass. Glass is not more sustainable than plastic at its first use, despite what a lot of bigger industries may like you to think. Glass takes a lot of energy to produce and a lot of energy to recycle, however, by the second use its significantly more sustainable than any other packaging choice. Engraved bamboo on the lids and collars of our products are sustainably grown, Bamboo is one of the fastest growing woods making it a brilliant sustainable choice as well as looking great.

 Oh and just so you know buy a gold glow and serum set and get the bag & sample cleanse free!

Now to the refills. Refilling is an established choice across the industry but one that is difficult to apply and is often highly inconvenient to you the customer. Bring you tub and we will refill it, post a tub off to be refilled. This approach requires significant patients and effort from you the customer and disincentivises you from wanting to. At natural little bee all of our refills are sent to you to refill at your leisure and yes even the hard balms, simply pop the refill in some warm water to melt it first. Of course you save money refilling too.

The refill packaging is again, of course all recyclable and biodegradable. All skincare is made of oils and oils are tricky to contain using sustainable materials, but we have found suppliers that have bioplastics that contain these ingredients well and are biodegradable in normal landfill conditions. Without leaving behind harmful microplastics for future generations.

In case you hadn’t noticed its summer and many of you will be travelling. Did you know at natural little bee we make a travel set of a wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner perfect for your getaway. All in 100ml bottles so hand luggage is allowed. The bottles are plastic (it pains me to say) but from a weight and travel convenience point of view this is unavoidable, please refill them to offset this. The bag more than makes up for it. Ethically and sustainably grown organic cotton. Water-resistant liner and a stunning cork base. Cork is a wonder material, you don’t even harm the tree harvesting it. Cork is flexible and waterproof meaning NO SOGGY BOTTOM a travel essential. And last but by no means least a large hanging loop that actually fits most bathroom hooks.
